Hi everyone-

I live in Milwaukee, WI and have kept a backyard flock for about a year and a half. I currently have 5 hens- an austrolorp, barred rock, buff orpington, cream legbar, and a rhode island red.

Keeping hens fits with my larger interest in permaculture and gardening. At my home of almost three years, my priority has been to smother grass, then prep and plant beds for native plants. Hoping to get back into growing food a little more next year now that I've got a bit of compost stored up.

Other than that, I have a 12 year old daughter, and work in urban forestry. I found BackyardChickens through google searches while doing research before getting my chicks, and I'm excited to become more involved in forums and further grow my chicken-keeping knowledge!
