Hi everyone,
I am Mom to seven year old identical twin boys who talked me into chickens
several weeks ago. Truthfully, it wasn't a very hard thing to do. :).
I know nothing about raising chickens, except what I've learned
lurking on here, so I am sure I'll have questions often.

As of now, we have 9 little chickens. They came from tractor supply,
so we aren't exactly sure what we've got, but I'm trying to
figure it out as the get bigger. Six weeks ago we bought 3 Andalusian Blues, 3 Buff Orpingtons
and 3 cute little chipmunk stripped unidentified fluff balls... Now we have 3 mostly black chickies, 2 buff colored chickies, 3 brown/gold/black, puffy cheeked chickies with grey-green legs ( Easter eggers?), and one great big white bird also with puffy cheeks and green legs.

Regardless of what they are turning out to be, the kids are having a great time
with them!!

I'm glad your boys talked you into chickens! They sure are fun to raise and very enjoyable. It sounds like you picked some great breeds! Buff orpingtons are my favorite breed. I have three as well. I just love how friendly and docile they are! Plus they lay tons of eggs.

How fun, your children and you will love them. Sounds like some great breeds. Yes, the Buff Orpington is a favorite for sure. And, I love blue anything! Such a pretty color to me.
Just have fun looking around, going to the search bar to find what you are wondering about. :p
And go to your state thread, you will have fun there!

So glad you could join our community! Chickens really are wonderful creatures to keep. I'm sure your boys will enjoy learning how to feed them and handle them. Chickens make excellent pets for children (really, they make great pets for almost everyone!). It sounds like you have a lovely variety of breeds. Be sure to post in the What Breed or Gender Is This? section to find out what breeds you have. Buff Orpingtons and Easter Eggers are very good layers with great personalities, and Blue Andalusians grow into beautiful birds!
