I'm starting this thread as I begin my journey into breeding large-fowl Harlequin Orpingtons. I am one of only 2 breeders in the world (at the time of this post) to own large-fowl Harlequin Orpingtons. There are others who claim to have them but it can be said with 100% certainty, without a sliver of doubt that mine and the original creator of the variety are the only breeders of LF in existence. Others are missing certain genes critical to completing the picture. (I will add there is one breeder of bantam Harlequin Orpingtons as well.) If anyone knows who the original creator of this variety is, I invite you to ask them; I'm sure they'd be happy to confirm my statement. Out of respect for them and their privacy, I will not release their name.
This variety was created by a very talented breeder. They made one pair available this year and I was fortunate enough to purchase them.
Follow me as I chronicle my journey into raising and breeding this beautiful and extremely rare variety of English Orpington; the rarest variety in the world.
If you're a doubter of this variety and it's complexity and rarity I invite you to follow along as I post updates. This will be a learning experience for everyone. This is meant to be a positive and fun thread so let's keep it that way.
Here are pictures of my pair as of today:
