I have mentioned In a thread in which I am seeking help on a couple of issues, that I had 3 chickens, but had to euthanize one of them two weeks ago.
Miss Sassafras, aka Sassy, had an impacted crop. It looked like maybe she was going to fight through it (she gave it one heck of a try), and I had her just starting to eat and poop again. Unfortunately, just a few hours before she started eating and pooping, she clawed at her chest (I guess because her crop felt bad) and got a deep gash in it. As I was taking her to the vet to see how she could be treated for the gash, she either pecked or scratched at the gash and ruptured her crop. At least we were on our way to the vet so she didn't suffer long.
Even tho she was my favorite, I never know one could be so attached to a chicken.
RIP pretty girl.
