So I’m hoping some of you with years of experience may be able to way in on this
with some thoughts and feedback.
Back in early May I had a 2yr old hen who
started dropping soft eggs from the roosting
bar to dropping shelless eggs in the yard.

I did the Calcium citrate for weeks with no success I did Chick ‘N Egg vit supplement as
well as a poul-vite each did not rectify this
situation.

The past weekend Saturday we noticed her
limping Sunday morning still limping so I
checked the bottom of her feet everything
appeared fine to me. To be safe I started
giving her epsom salt baths twice a day
and the same routine yesterday the only
thing I added to the regime yesterday
was one and a half aspirin divided up into
three throughout the day.

To be safe I also crated her Sunday and Monday
night just to avoid any further injury but the crate
was in the coop and within sight of the rest of
the hens.

Now here’s the Mystery She hasn’t laid an egg
since early May I honestly thought she just won’t ever lay again. I just went out there she laid an egg this morning 5 chickens 5 eggs! It’s a bit
grainy on the exterior a bit pale in colour but really hard. What could have brought this turn
about?

Please weigh in on this I need some input
Thanks everyone

She may have some problem with her shell gland, part of the oviduct. The grainy bits is calcium deposits. I have had hens with laying disorders stop laying and then one again lay some before stopping permanently. Chickens can take breaks from laying for different reasons. Do you have her on a layer feed with free choice crushed oyster shell?

Yes she is on a good quality layer feed and has
access to double duty grit, oyster shells, I also
Crush up eggs shells so there are plenty of
options available to her.
