Okay, my husband and I have both noticed that we have fertile chicken eggs. What's odd about this? Hmmm, maybe that we only own one Rooster and he is kept caged at all times in our barn because he's a show bird.
He hasn't been anywhere near our layer flock for MONTHS (since about Feb.).
I had found one a few weeks ago while DH was at work, but then this morning he cracked an egg and went "Now that is a fertile egg!" and looked at me for some explanation. The only thing I could say was "Wild Chicken?"

Which he busted up about...
(Ever see Jeff Foxworthy and the free range wild chicken bit????????)

Then we have our gay duck. Moderate me if you have to but I just don't know how else to say it. I have a black and white runner duck hen, who lays eggs, pretty green ones!!! But ever since I sold my Khaki Campbell flock of 5 which contained my only drake, she has been literally mating all the duck hens every morning in the water trough, and has it nailed down so well she ever squeals and falls off onto her side, just like a drake!!!!

WHAT IS WRONG with my animals?!
Immaculate conception and a severe case of identity crisis.... What next?!

I'd say your gene pool is a lost cause. Even if "she" turned out to be a drake, it would not be of quality. Have it for supper.

LOL these are pet ducks... I only have 4 ducks left, the only ones we couldn't part with because we are starting to raise Saxonies in 2010 so I let my small flock of Khakis go.

I won't be having her for supper, have you not seen how lean and lanky a runner duck is?!
I think it's hilarious, but awkward to explain to my kids!
