I was at rural King the other day and they had a barred rock rooster for sell at $200. I was under the impression that this was ridiculous but then he sold. then someone brings in a polish rooster and the priced tag on it is $1200. help me understand this. what makes sense.

Are these show quality birds of exceptional standard with show records to back them? Those prices seem high for a normal bird, but rare breeds/colors/quality can make some prices skyrocket in an area where they might not be common.
If there was anything like that I didn't see it, you would think that copies of those documents would have been on display next to the roosters. with the $200 rooster I had ask why the price was that high and the response was that they didn't want to sell it.

To me they looked no different ( other than the breed ) than any in my flock.

Had to be of a Good quality blood line and quality with proof to back it.

Remember you usually get what you pay for even in chickens. Unless you know the breeder personally then thats a different story altogether.
I seen nothing to convince me of this. But I know nothing, I am new to all of this and learning as I go.

You need to learn what to look for when it comes to the run of the mill/hatchery stock vs breeder stock it takes a long time theres lots to learn about every breed what to look fo in quality and faults.

Im sure any one willing to pay that money for a BR knew what they were doing. As for the seller anyone with decades of good stock they really dont want to get rid of breeder stock so easily.
