We recently ( yesterday )brought 6 chicks home. They have all acclimated very well except one (the runt). She wasn't as energetic as the others from the beginning but noticed tonight that she is acting very lethargic. She will walk but if nudged or messed with by another chick but other than that she just lays down. Yesterday she seemed to be eating and drinking just fine . The water has electrolytes the brooder is at temp. What do I need to do to help.?? Is she getting picked on? I did notice when I put her beak in the water again . Pretty quickly some of the other chicks came over and kinda muscled her out of the way a bit. Is this the pecking order ?? Is she getting picked on so she isn't getting enough food and water?? Please help.. thanks in advance.

I had a "runt" in my hatch last fall. I was able to raise her to laying age but she was alwaYs kast to feed and drink. When she was old enough to join the adult free range flock, she never went into the coop at night.
I never saw her being bullied by anyone. She just always seemed to be a loner. Finally one night when i went out to find her and physically put her in the coop, she wasn't there. Something found her first. I felt bad for her, but honestly she was a pain in the butt.
She never layed an egg for certain and was scheduled to be be slaughtered if she hadn't been taken first.

Point is, even if she survives, she may not be accepted by the flock. But she might have a better chance once shes grown. To ensure she is getting all she needs, try isolating her until she is strong and active. Then reintroduce her.
