My male silver has been wing whirring for the last couple weeks and chasing the hens like crazy. I was out doing chores this morning when I found a scrape in the ground with 2 eggs in it, they are different sizes and patterns so I am thinking each of the hens layed an egg. Pheasants are interesting, I have the pen set up with brush, nest boxes, huts, all sorts of places for them to lay their eggs but instead they just lay them in the open up by the front of the pen.
Now the other pheasants need to start laying. The amherst cock has been displaying and singing to the hens and the ringneck cock has been mating with his hen like crazy. Maybe spring is finally here, even though we are still getting snow.

Just had to share, if possible I will try to post a pic of the eggs. I plan to collect the first batch of eggs, then as it warms up some I will let the hens set.

Sounds fascinating! I would love to see pics! Wow, you're still getting snow? Such a bummer. Here in Ohio, it's been unseasonably warm. In March, we even had a few weeks that were in the 70s, which hardly ever happens. Right now, it's more like our spring, with temps in the 50s.

I've never owned pheasants, but I've seen pictures of some super colorful yellow and red ones. Amazing colors!

Take care,
Sharon

A couple days ago, we were in the 60's, then snow. Today is gloomy but more snow in the forecast. Plus we've had lots of mountain runoff when the snow melted, roads are being washed out and the pasture is like a sponge. Last year our summer was more like the wet side of the state's but it was good for hay.
I will work on getting a couple pics up as soon as I can
