Oh guys, I am sooo excited!:celebrate I have made the decision to tear down my old, really bad coop, and build a new one using recycled materials! The old coop is only 4 feet tall, has holes in the roof, and is 6x8. Not the greatest. I built it when I was 13. It's been sitting unused for years now.
You can see it here, the closest, shortest one:

Admit it- it looks so bad! I want everything to match and look nice. Because I'm tearing down my fence and expanding my run area, I thought as soon as everything thaws I may as well lift this thing up, move it, scoop up the old gravel and bedding (down to bare dirt to plant on), and use that area to build my new quail coop on the spot.
I am super excited! It should cost less than $50, if I use recycled materials from my old coop. I'll paint it to match the other coop, and my quail will live in their own run and coop area. It'll be great:wee
The new coop will be 4x6, I think, or 4x8... we'll see. 4x6 would cost less if I bought 2x2s in 12 foot lengths... but maybe 4x8 would cost less if I bought 2x2s in 16 foot lengths... Hmmm, there's a thought!:idunno
It'll be something like this:

The coop itself will only have 3 walls, and 2 by 4 feet... maybe 3 by 4. It will be 3 feet tall (with 3 feet underneath), and the back wall will come unhinged for cleaning. The ramp will be much longer though seeing as it'll be for quail:love The run will be 6 feet tall (I learned the walk-in-coop-run-area lesson the hard way).
I am so excited:):)
