The story of Jerry the disabled diamond dove

Hello everyone! I want to tell you all the story of Jerry my super friendly disabled diamond dove.

Jerry and his sister hatched a few months ago and sadly when they fledged Jerry either got attacked by a budgie or he got really badly hurt from a bad fall. Either way he sadly broke his wing and the wing bones completely separated. I wasn't sure if he was going to make it or not but by some luck he did! I did have to help him a lot as he likes to climb but he can't fly down. When he healed his win bones healed separately and he can no longer open the one wing. He can flap one if his wings but he is completely unable to fly. He has come so far and he has learned how to travel around and he can survive fine. The feed I give my quail is also used for doves and pigeons so he can eat it with ease! Here are some photos of him today!

Jerry is very beautiful. I have two disabled hens. One live through a C1 fracture and cannot lift her head and ha a drooped wing. The other cannot drink or eat without us. She has an untreated splayed leg and curly toes syndrome. Her left leg is out at 90 degrees. It was that way when we adopted her at 16-weeks.

She sounds like a very lucky hen, I know that lots of feed stores will cull unhealthy or injured chicks.

sadly Jerry did pass last night peacefully in his sleep. He was an awesome little bird and i don't really know why he died. im really sad he passed away. i actually got him a friend and they were both doing really good. he was eating normal and behaving normal. i know he didn't have any parasites and neither does his friend.
