I work up one morning to a very unpleasant suprise...
I keep some of my button quail in with my finches ,and some how ,on of them managed to hang herself from the top bars of her cage. As figures ,it was my favorite quail
I thought she was dead ,but as I went to pop her head out of the bars ,she blinked !!
She had stripped the feathers and skin off of both sides of her neck ,aswell as under he beak.
For the first few days ,she just sat there like this :
Slowly she started to heal ,and this is how she was 5 days later.
And here she is as of today ,13 days after hanging herself.
She's quite friendly now ,and will call to you if you whistle at her ,and she'll follow you around from a safe distance if you let her out.
She had also scalped her self before hand ,and she's starting to grow feathers on her head
