The strangest thing

but my chickies also have several hiding places they hang out at that are 'hawk proof'. primarily under the truck, trailers (camper, utility, horse) and in the middle of the raspberry patch. we have tons of crows and apparently they don't bother the chickens but the hawks and eagles definitely do... they even run when a buzzard glides over (but i've never heard of buzzards hunting chickies).

as for the noise levels, usually a hawk or somesuch they go silent and run fast. but cats and squirrels will stir up a 'rucus' usually with my oegb roo in the lead with his loud "ba-gack!" LOL and I can egg him on by mimicking him and it gets the whole flock going... it's hilarious.
