The time has come to separate. A genetics sort of question.

Okay, I'm no expert, but I would say you would be better off putting her with the browns. Golden is dominant over brown, I believe someone said for every 3 eggs you hatch from that mix, 2 will be golden and one will be brown. The tibetan in the tuxedos is usually dominant over golden, and everything is dominant over A&M. So if you want more goldens, put her with the browns, if you don't really care, put her with the A&Ms and tuxedo.

I have this question as well. Right now I have 4 A&Ms, 2 "wild color" (not sure what they're called), 1 Tuxedo and 1 Chocolate. I'm pretty sure the two wild color birds are roos (they're getting red chests and will be 3 weeks old next Tuesday). IF I end up with any of the others being females, which ones should I put with my wild color males?

Also, I have 23 eggs due to hatch next Tuesday. At what age can those chicks be put in with this first batch, or will I ever be able to incorporate more females in with the older males and/or vice versa?

This is SO confusing! *LoL*

Wilds are just known as browns. Brown is dominant over most everything except golden I believe. I'm not 100% sure on that though, so you should ask monarc. The tuxedo and chocolate (aka tibetan) if put with each other or the A&M would produce more tibetan/tuxedo/A&M colors. I think the tibetan might be dominant over brown, but like I said I'm not sure.

You should wait to put young females in with older males until they are either already laying or are close to laying.

Thanks a bunch for the info! So far the Tuxedo is everyone's favorite, so I'd definitely like to get more of those down the line. Of course, I have these 23 eggs hatching next Tuesday and am hoping quite a few of those are Tuxedos - they look just like little penguins

If you want more tuxedos, put the A&M and the tuxedo and tibetan (chocolate) together, that will get you almost nothing but tuxedo! You might get a few A&M from the tux-A&M breeding or the tux-tibetan breeding, but the majority should be tuxedos.

I believe that rosetta, which is a type of tibetan, trumps golden, and since golden trumps browns, you might get mostly tuxedos and tibetans if you put them with the tux & tibetans as well. But the brown-A&M breeding will give you more browns.

Shelley, I'd say you're close to being a good genetic coturnix answer-er so i'd say atleast with the basics of how the coturnix genetics work you're doing wonderfully!

Keep it up!

Less for me to type!

and yes you're right rosetta is a tibetan patterened bird so it acts the same

So what if I want more A&M's? I thought I read somewhere that it wasnt good to put A&M to A&M? I have A&M, golden, browns, pharoah and some tibetans ( some tux but not good tux)

A & M to A & M is perfectly fine, the only issue you may encounter is Albinoizm which if you get that sell me some eggs!

Want more A & Ms cross them together theres no health risks other than the albino gene that will only show up if you interbreed a lot... I want the red eyed birds myself! LOL!
