I went out to the chicken coop today and found one of my silkie chicks (three weeks old) acting very odd, he was twisting his head and it seemed he could not control his head. I found out that it was Crooked neck...... i read in a magazine that it is almsot always fatal and I thoguth my bird might die because it had it pretty bad. We could not stop tryign so we made a neck brace for the little guy out of medical tape type stuff. It seemed to help a little so we separated the chick into a brooder byitself. I put it under the heat lamp and it went to sleep. I read here on the forum that people sometimes gave their chicks or birds with crooked neck, liquid vitamins. So I gave it soem with a syrnge and some water and it ate a bit. I went out at 7:00 pm and he was mad and hated the thing on his neck. So i took it off..................... and the chick was fine

i had a dark cornish with a deformed foot. cut out what looked like a duckling foot and taped it to his foot to flatten. i spread out his toes and straightened them and all that. he was better over night!

maybe it's because baby chicks grow so fast? glad to know that your chick is okay so far!

We had a chicken we were told had a slipped tendon that would not be able to be fixed that we needed to cull him.

We didn't have the heart so we seperated him and gave him a lower protein feed...I guess that is what he needed because he is perfect now!
