What is this??

Found these guys in my garden. Kicking myself for not having my camera when I fed them to my young chickens. They were mystified and terrified and then excited and chasing each other around.

Those are the larvae of June beetles and are known as "grubs." They are not fondly seen by those who manicure their lawns as grubs cause damaged roots and more importantly, attract digging mammals who will leave huge holes in one's lawn "grubbing" for these delectable, high protein morsels! Fish go nuts for these as bait, too!!

Thanks! I've been finding them in one section of my garden only. It's one I fertilized with lots of fresh horse poo. Guess that was a bad idea!
