It used to be that when a baby was born into this world, it was just a regular, normal human baby. Now children with animal-like ears, tails, eyes, anything and everything you could think of, are popping up everywhere!(Only two characteristics of any breed on one child are common, having more than two is very rare) Also, marriage or dating someone with different animal characteristics (breed) is thought to be unholy and weird in the eyes of most. It has basically become a natural and normal thing by now, however, everyone is still trying to make sense of how these strange changes occurred in the first place. Maybe somebodies DNA was a little off? Maybe something just happened? We'll never know!
It is a cool, nice place here, with beautiful trees, clean, cool air, green grass, and it is just a nice place in general, excluding when the handlers do their 'daily checkups'

It is most common to have the ears and tail of a breed, and less common to have other characteristics. Other variations of breeds are obviously, different breeds of that specific animal. Also, there are obiously other possible breed characteristic variations than just the ones shown, and you may write these for your characteristics as well.
As the title states, these are just regular humans, which are usually looked down upon for being too 'boring'.
Babies with rabbit characteristics are born with big rabbit ears, and a puffy little tail. Males are usually bullied in school for their 'adorable' appearance, while females are the 'most wanted' girlfriends for the exact same reason.
While most children born with rabbit characteristics end up with ears and a tail, some of the slightly less fortunate children are either born with rabbit teeth and a tail, rabbit teeth and ears, a rabbit nose and ears, or a rabbit nose and a tail. The rarest and most sought after characteristics however, are having rabbit eyes(because they are big and adorable) with any other characteristic besides rabbit teeth.
Exactly the same as rabbits, just with big, floppy ears instead!
Not one of the most desired breeds, but dogs are still pretty popular! Children are usually born with dog ears and a tail, and can sometimes make (adorable) barking noises.
Variations of the dog characteristics can be having literal 'puppy dog eyes' (which are known as the cutest thing in the world), having a dog nose (not all that desired by anyone)
Children born with cat characteristics usually have ears and a tail, like most other breeds in general, and can almost always make purring noises. (even if not on purpose)
Variations of the cats characteristics are having a cat tail, a cat nose, cat eyes, or the most undesirable characteristic, cat whiskers.
Like usual, wolf ears and a tail are most common, and wolves are a uncommon breed in general.
Variations of wolf characteristics are having those mysterious wolf eyes, having hunting skills and instincts, or having a 'pack mentality'
Children born with bear characteristics usually get bear ears, and usually bear paws.
Variations to the characteristics of bears are bear claws, the instinct to hunt/eat fish, or even bear fur!
Handlers, an elite group of humans around here, are at the top of the food chain, and usually love to mess with any non-humans. They have been assigned to keep them in check, but can sometimes be nasty to them, but that is usually uncommon. They do daily checkups to make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to. Sometimes they'll end up playing a game of cards with them, etc. just to pass the time.

As children with animal characteristics grow up, they can sometimes learn how to change into the animal they have the characteristics of, temporarily of course. (not for longer than a week)
