Ha Gotcha NOT CHICKENS but I had to share my turkey babies, six weeks and soooo big and cuddly.

Note to self, building coop with occupants already in run is substantially more difficult.

It's just a stone, they like having something to put a foot on and it keeps them from being totally comfortable and squatting there. I have a couple that think they're ducks.

I do love my chicks but these guys take the cake for bonding and cuddles.

Are these guys for dinner?

If you've read "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" you'd learn that turkeys will outgrow the cuteness when they hit puberty (I've never had turkeys).

LOVE that book. I learned more about turkeys reading that book than I think I wanted to know.

I have adult turkeys so I am familiar with the stages but don't find any of them actually ugly, which does suggest I am a turkey person at heart, I suppose. Now I have to get that book.

I doubt any of this group are going to be dinner, I'd like to replace my Tom this year and add some hens. We'll see how these grow out. The next group is for sale, they're about six weeks old or for dinner if they don't sell.

I'll sort the Calicos after they color in. Some of them are sold or dinner. They appear to be growing faster than same age BRs.

And the BR/Buffs under way - we'll see. Mostly for sale if I get what I want from the first three groups.

Umm yeah, I'm into turkeys well and proper.

Of course there are more chickens coming up as well

Busy busy

I know they're not ugly but made ya look!!! Not everybody here gets over to the turkey thread and I HAD to share.
