There is mucus coming out of my quail chicks beak help!!!!!!!!

So I just gave my quail chicks some water and then some started gasping and there is large amounts of mucus coming out I don't know what to do please help!!!!!!!!

How did you give them water - did they drink it themselves or was the water syringed into them?
Anything added to the water?
Water station(s) cleaned and rinsed well of soap?
How old are they?

They have a small dish with rocks in it, they are 9 days old and every morning I clean out there food and water with soap and hot water

All the soap is washed out and they are doing just fine its just after they drink water?

Can they distinguish food from the shavings?

They gasp and mucous comes out when they drink...are their crops emptying?
