There's more than one way to break a broody!

Has anyone tried the shower method before?

With one hand I lifted this hen with the back of a small rake, while the other hand steadily held my hose on shower mode...long enough to be tired from holding it! She was loving it. It took three 'treatments,' but it worked. She came out of her trance and cooled down in these hot summer temps too.

OK glad it worked for you!! LOL

Personally, I just pick them up and put them in the broody breaker cage I got set-up----has always worked in 3 full days for me----no wet nesting boxes or nothing, But I guess she was pecking you is the reason for the rake? I don't us this----but if needed I would just use long thick sleeves and work gloves.

She freaks out, and I think I've developed an allergic reaction to dander. This kept her calm and did the trick.

It was hot, so the box dried quickly.

i do a little ice water dunk.. i hold them in some cold water, just their bellies and i have to do this a few times.. but they come out of it, and then another goes broody
