Ive always doubted thermometer accuracy ive been using the indoor/outdoor from walmart my last one quit I bought a new one recently and stuck it under a setting hen this gave a temp of 102 even three days in a row the last one used said 100 and I set my incubator according to it and had great results but this 102 has got me worrying im try gonna try it once more as I have eggs under her now just to see if it makes a difference. I trust the hens temp is right lol just wonder if the thermometer is that far off I'm planning to set turkey eggs but only have chicken to check the thermometer with

You can try a medical thermometer. They are generally accurate. Certain brands are "generally" better than others when it comes to thermometers like Cooper-Atkin's though more expensive..I wouldent worry about that therm reading that under a hen. trust the hen and in all honesty don't trust a wal mart therm unless you know for sure its right against a good therm..Just my opinion.

Ok thanks how accurate is the ice water test I filled a glass with crushed ice then what i could with water the wal mart therm read 33 two meat therm were 32 one was 34

stuck the kids therm in the incubator and got 105.7 the wal mart is reading 103 both meat thermometers are riding the low side of the 100 degree line these meat thermometer s were accurate 4 years ago its been that long since I've ran an incubator
