Hello All - This is my first thread. I’m looking at putting a remote thermometer inside my coop. Just because I always go a little overboard and I’d like to know exactly how cool it gets in there. I have a thermometer in there now but I’m looking for a long range remote / digital that I could have the base inside the house. Any recommendations? The further range I could find so far is 300ft but my coop is further than that.

Welcome to the BYC Family!!

I have a normal old school thermometer. I check it in the mornings before sunup because that is when it would be coldest. My coop is also attached to a detached garage and the garage blocks the side I get my wind from.
Hopefully someone has a great recommendation!

Welcome to the flock :jumpy !

We use Taylor devices with good luck, though changing batteries can get a little testy because the transmitter and receiver have to be relinked. I suggest you look for one that includes a hygrometer, as knowing the temperature will be more valuable if you know how humid your coop is.

Actually, knowing the humidity in your coop is probably more important than knowing the temp.

I don’t know about the range of our devices though I do know they’re within 300 feet. Sorry to be unhelpful, but if you do some research online the information is bound to be there.

Something else to consider is a “smart” device that you can run from your phone or computer. Then maybe add a remote cam... 🙄 The possibilities are endless! Good luck!
