They grow up so fast

got my ducklings just a bit over 5 weeks ago.

they day they arrived in the mail.




one week old (i don't know why i don't have a big group shot)




2 weeks old, enjoying a bath.




about 2.5 weeks old. moved outside. glad I got my bathtub back.

















about 4 weeks old


















5 1/2 weeks old. moved into the pasture. They sure love all the space.

I hope they grow up the rest of the way and start laying those yummy eggs.

How do you protect them from predators?

the growing area (2weeks-5weeks) is covered with the netting designed to go over trees to keep birds out. now that they are out on the farm there i not much i can do. I haven't lost much foul to predators. knock on wood. i do have two tom turkeys that do a good job in keeping dogs away.

Well, keep the patrols going. If turkeys do the job, great! Seems predators pick on ducks. That's just my feeling. They are a lovely bunch!

yes that's one of my silkies. when I was feeding there was some shoving going on with the chickens and she got pushed in. ....

Well I was wondering if you had a chicken that liked to swim with the ducks.. LOL

You've got some great looking ducks! They do grow up fast, don't they? That adorable little duckling phase doesn't last long enough. But, once they grow up, you get to see how their little duckling down transforms into beautiful color patterns.

they are about 7 weeks old in those pictures. not much change going on right now. they are getting feed with all the other fowl now.
