In managing your flock you will need some basic things.

1.A big space and a coop big enough for any amount of chickens.

2.Feed.(This is important as so is water.)

3.A nice confy spot for your hens to lay.
Those are the basic things you'll need.If you have a hen who will stay in the box, peck your hand if you try to collect her eggs and is very big in size compared to normal, she is broody! If your wondering what to do i've got all the info youl need.Brooding is whwn a hen wants to hatch chicks. To determin if your hen is truly broody take 3 eggs that you dont really care for and put them under your hen.If your hen stays on the eggs all day and all night, only getting up to eat, drink, poop or dust bathe for a little she is truly broody. If she gets off the eggs frequently and freeroams with the other hens she is not broody.Once you know your hen is truly broody, youll need to get some fertile eggs.To do this yourself youll need a rooster.I reccomend buying some at your local feed store because roosters can be mean.In up to 3 weeks (depending on when you get them)your eggs will hatch and you will have a flock of adorable chicks. If your hens are friendly (like mine) you sould try to handle the chicks alot to make the grow attached and become friendly towards you and anyone.just feed all of your hens and chicks chick starter and your on your way to having an egg collecting farm.

Egg Production

In the process of egg producing, you will have to have a nice soft place for your hens to lay there eggs. When I collected my first clutch of eggs i was surprised. There was 8 eggs in an arranged form!I collected egg cartons when i bought eggs from the store. If you choose to eat your eggs you will notice a difference in taste and color.

This is what you need to know to start a chicken farm!

Missing one thing. (not trying to be rude) but research. Find a breed that you like. go to a chicken show and talk to the people there you can get lots of opinions and thoughts. Even if you just go on line and find a breed you like talk to someone about the breed if they had it before (that works well on her starting a new thread about what one should get.)
