Think I drowned them?

Hi all,

I have a Little Giant Still Air, and my house is fairly dry. I do not have a hygrometer, so I was just geussing on how much water to get the humidity up. I put a rather large sponge, completely soaked, in and in about a day and a half it dried up. I added more water to it by the large air hole on top, but unfortunately it mostly missed and got on the cardboard carton I'm using to hatch in. It's pretty soaked....Did I just doom my chicks to a watery death before their time?!!?!?!

Open the lid add water to the tray, and put them in a dry carton. They'll be fine.

I've had wet egg cartons before, its not a big deal. What day are you on? If you are before day 20, I'd quickly trade it out, otherwise, just wait for the hatch.

So are you saying that you put the eggs in a carton on day 18 to hatch in? I have never heard of that! Let me know!

Well, it's day 20/21 (I put them in late in the day 'day 1' so it's kinda off) But good news!!!!!!!!

I heard a peep!!!!!!!!!

:yiipchick If that hurt them, it didn't hurt all! (wow, that sounds wierd). Soooooo, we'll see. Next time (and oh, there WILL be a next time) I will d better! Or, at least, smarter.

Fortunately I've got plans away from the house tomorrow so I won't need ducktape!!

Well, Cacklin Hens, I'd never heard of that either before BYC (course, this IS only my fisrt hatch). Apparently, it not only helps with cleanup, it keeps the already-hatched chicks from rolling the unhatched around. (rolling around while hatching dosen't sound fun) So it is only hearsay so far, as noone has hatched yet!

Well I did SOMETHING right!!! Three confirmed pips, one of my white Rock/EE is ZIPPING!!! She reallly wants out!!
