Welcome from Missouri. We got 12" of snow so far overnight, more coming so it's probably headed your way.
I had chickens and pheasant when I was young but last winter I decided to get 4 or 5 chickens. Well in July I got 10 instead. Then I thought since I had all these pens and such, I should get some for meat. Then I thought maybe a few more. By October I had 90 birds.
Luckily I'm down to 44. Some went to freezer camp some sold to friends. I'll probably end up with about 20 layers.
You'll eat more eggs when you have your own fresh ones in your backyard rather than buying.
p.s. I can't eat eggs from 20 hens, but we do use a lot.
