Thinking about Chukar...

I was thinking about starting with Chukar so need a little information. I have and raise quail so was wondering if they are kind of similar to keep. Also do they make very much noise? Any information will be great.

They are probably more similar to bobwhites than coturnix.

They don't make as much noise as a Coturnix but they have some interesting vocalizations. Some sound similiar to bobwhites. Not the bobwhite call but the sounds bobwhites make when startled or re-grouping. They also make more squeeking/high pitched sounds. I really like my Chukar...got some Albino Chukar eggs in the bator right now too

OO and give Chukar as much room as you can. I have 7 right now in a 3ft by 8ft pen....will be adding more though to it. But no more than 12-15 birds in that pen.

Guess I should have elaborated more on my post.

Chukars are more similar to bobwhites in the way they act (i.e.-picking, fighting, etc.) I never have much of a problem with my coturnix fighting.

You will definitely need to have lots of space for them.

I like my chuks so much I am thinking of going to them completly. the bobs are so mean... and the chuks are much quieter IMHO. plus they are cool to look at!

Sam you better put me on the list for some albinos eggs I wanna be the first to get some from ya ok! so there I will even prepay for them.... let me know ok!
