So I'm gonna get a roo for my small flock so we can hatch some chicks next spring my question is will a adult roo try to mate my young hens early or will he wait ( hens are 13 weeks) and does anyone know if I mix white legorn roo with buff orphington hens what color eggs there chick eggs will be when they start laying

In my excperiance, roos wait until they are maybe around 3-3 1/2 months old. But I can not answer your mixing question because I have never raised Leghorns. I'm guessing the chicks egg color will be either BuffO color or Leghorn color, whichever the chicks get thier traits from. But that's just an educated guess

I think you should end up with a pale tan egg. The orpingtons lay brown eggs right? I've seem some young roosters try and mate with anything they can catch, but the unwilling party usually gets away. I have several breeds of quiet roosters available if you might be interested. Just PM me.
