Thinking of putting the hen house...

I'm thinking of putting our new hen house in an area where my husband has, in the past, done a lot of wood chipping. The chips are fairly deep - perhaps a foot, possibly two in some spots. No toxic cedar or pine was chipped there. But I'm wondering if this is safe and whether it would be better to scrape away the chips.

That sounds fine. I can't think of why that would be a problem. I add wood chips to mine in the winter when the ground is frozen to give them something to kick around in. It'll help it keep from getting all muddy too.

we have an area that was filled with wood chips, our chickens made short work of them and kicked them around and got down to the dirt over the course of the summer. so don't worry about having too many wood chips
