This breed is super mean!!!

I have 4 black minorcas. Around 5-6 weeks old. Today I noticed they're pulling tail feathers off my bovan brown babies (same age) to where their little butts were bleeding and I had to separate them. I noticed 1 of the black minorcas is the one doing most but the other 3 chime in too just not as much. They have good feed and get treats. They're outside during the day and come inside my house at night still bc nights are still just a little chilly for them. I've never had this problem with any chicks/chickens before and I'm super freaked out! Will the browns be okay? What do I do to make the minorcas stop? I might be getting rid of them if they continue.

I’m still super new so I’ll leave advise to the experts, but you were smart to separate them. I’m sure the little browns will heal. I’ve read that some folks use Neosporin on chicken owies?

I can’t think of a brand name or the exact description but there is an anti picking spray or lotion that is pretty good. I’ve used it for that problem with some Leghorn chicks. Have had issues with some groups and not others. I have also heard that a red heat lamp bulb instead of a regular clear bulb will reduce picking.

Thank you I try! I love animals! I have a golden retriever I just spent $5k on for quarantine for 4 months after he attacked a racoon that made her way into our house thru his doggy door. It was definitely a long hard winter without my Gunner boy!! But he's home safe and sound and healthy as ever! Money well spent! People say I'm crazy but he's just as much my child as my actual children! Lol

I hear ya! My pup turned 1 about a week ago. I spent 4K to fix an Angular Limb Deformity on his front leg in December. Found out yesterday that he has Bilateral Patellar Luxation. He is scheduled for surgery on both knees next month. Another $4500. He will have bionic legs by the time this is all done. I jokingly made/posted this picture on FB last night.

I hear ya! My pup turned 1 about a week ago. I spent 4K to fix an Angular Limb Deformity on his front leg in December. Found out yesterday that he has Bilateral Patellar Luxation. He is scheduled for surgery on both knees next month. Another $4500. He will have bionic legs by the time this is all done. I jokingly made/posted this picture on FB last night. Awe! I wish the best for your baby! So sorry for the bad news. I really hope that they get his poor legs all fixed up for him and you! Poor baby
