Hello,

I bought three silkies as day old chicks (they are almost 4 weeks old now). The two definitely look like silkies (white and partridge - very furry puff balls). This one on the other hand, has well developed feathers that aren't furry at all and the mohawk stands straight up (unlike the puffy heads of the other two). I think the white colouring on chest and head has increased with age. It does have furry feet. So I'm left wondering if it's a mix or something else... like a polish or cochin? Thoughts? I'm not particular on the breed but I'm curious to know!

(I thought I had more photos on my computer but this is the only one. I can upload more from my camera later. Not seen in this photo is the large feathered tail).

It definitely does not look like a silkie. With that said, I'm not sure what it is. Maybe a silkie mix.

I do notice a single comb though. Is this chick bantam sized?

haha Okay I'm gald I'm on the right track not thinking it is a silkie! It is a bantam from what I can tell... it's the same size as the silkies and much smaller than my standard size orpingtons.

Whatever the chick is, it's really cute! I love the little top of the head feathers. Reminded me of babies you see sometimes with their hair tied on top of their heads. :D
