I hatch my own eggs. I only have EE and Ameraucana roosters. My girls are Buff Orp, EE, Ameraucana, Barred Rock, Production Reds, Black and Blue Copper Marans. NONE of my chicks look like these two girls. They are sisters, hatched at the same time and look identical to each other, but nothing like any of the chicks I have ever hatched.

This is Hilda. She has big, white ear lobes and a large comb.

This is her sister Mary. She is identical to Hilda except she has smaller ear lobes.

None of my other chickens have a comb like that and none have ear lobes that stand out like these. What are they mixed with? The only thing I can think of is that one of my EE roos must have something WAY in his background that hasn't shown itself in any of my chicks before.

What color egg did they hatch from? They look just like brown leghorns.

I don't know the egg color. It could be from any one of them like in my avatar.

ETA: I found a pic of the eggs in the incubator. They came out of one of these:

I have yet to see either one of them nesting so I don't know what color eggs they will lay.

Yes, they are my birds and I know they are considered a barnyard mix. I was breeding my mixes together to get different colored eggs. I like a pretty egg basket. I was surprised at the way these two look because none of my other chicks have ever hatched out looking anything like these two. I was simply asking what breed has these characteristics that are coming out. I assume it's a throw back gene from one of my EE's, just curious as to what breed.

Well, we'd have to see the parents since it has a lot to do with color.
Looks like perhaps a brown leghorn snuck in and added 2 eggs, since those are exact examples of brown leghorns

I just googled brown leg horn and they look exactly like them. THAT is strange! I don't even have any white egg layers.

It looks like two BLs somehow got into your clutch after they hatched. Crazy.
