this is the coop we picked up.....

Looks nice.
You may find that some of the hens will roost in the nest boxes instead of the roost.
Generally you want the roost to be the highest point they can sit on.

I am not a big fan of wire floors either. I prefer a deep litter.
No matter what you still have to clean chicken poop. I prefer to do that every 6 months or so.

If you can make the window open for venting that would be good. in the heat of summer you will want lots of air flow.

i can move the nest boxes to the floor of the coop but i'd loose alot of floor space. Maybe 1 set of nest boxes outside and 1 in? I only have 7 chickens so i really don't need 8 nest boxes

My coop has a wire floor too. It's Hardware cloth. I have some 1/4" plywood over a portion of it and plan to put a wood floor down for the winter. I was hoping the poo would fall through, which it does & doesn't. I plan to pull the boards out and wash the crap off them when necessary in the colder months, but planned to let the wire do it's job for the warmer months. So far the girls don't seem to mind the wire. No injuries or anything. I didn't paint inside of my coop, I don't think it will be necessary, I didn't want them to eat any paint as it ages, etc.

Sounds like we have a similar idea / design. I recently received a plastic barrel, that I am going to design a waterer from. There are a couple of designs on the site, and I will be using some of the same design along with my own flavor. As long as I can capture the rain and get a water source I will take care of the chickens and probably plant a little patch of something for a treat. Otherwise I will have to carry water to them or run a couple of lengths of hose. I want to put the coop in a little grove behind the barn. There are a lot of black berries and elderberry bushes
back there already and I have a nice big area all cleared and ready for the coop / girls. I will be moving it once I finish leveling the ground it will sit on and finish cutting down some trees that I want out of the area. Hopefully in the next week or so as work and the wife will allow.

With the ventilation at the top and the wire floor, the coop should stay well aerated. I plan to free range the chickens when they get a little older, and if the whole coop thing fails, I will end up turning a horse stall into a chicken coop! Time will tell; but I'm sure enjoying the project and the girls ;)
