Welllll my fellow BYC'ers who know what it's like to discover the chicken house you already have is inadequate and decide you need to reconstruct... I am now in your boat along with you (by the way, who's driving this thing, anyway?!)


Let me tell you my plans.


My chicken house was an old rabbit barn, and really not gonna be winter friendly. Plus, my mom is getting into chickens too -but when I say SHE is getting into them, she told me what she wants me to do.- so deffinately I have some reconstructing to do.

I plan on making a few changes to the house I already have, just expanding a bit, and then re-doing a few things. But along with that, a new chicken house is required, PLUS, another small yard to house twelve chickens, and two guinneas. Might I add I have to expand the chicken yard I already have. I'm looking forward to the reconstructing part because I'm doing it during the cold months, no sweating. But the chicken yard part I'm not looking forward... Anyone wanna come do that for me?


I guess I'm looking for some encouragement, and perhaps someone to tell me I'm not completely insane...

Insane maybe.....completely insane...Naaaaa, just HOOKED!!! LOL Im sure you will make it all better...with mom getting into chickens as well...will she be helping with the construction? Might I suggest....do the yard before the freeze?? LOL Make sure you get LOTS of pics too! We like to see construction pics!

I was soooo excited to be done with our main coop and run!

Then I kept coming up with project, after project. I'm working on a small run extension for the Silkies coop, rebuilding 2 old rabbit hutches into one quarantine cage...and we still have a couple tractors to build, DH is now wanting to add Pheasants...
