DH and I saw these all over New England and love them (would love to know the history,if anyone knows). Any idea where I can order one/what they are called? I really want to put one on our coop.

YES! You are awesome!

If you search Amish Star there are sites that sell them I just looked 50+ and shipping, that was for the metal ones, I have a couple that are wooden. Easyer to paint, and not as heavy to hang.

Edited to add: you can always look at the Amish Star on a quilt, and 50 wont seem so bad, they start around 700

i noticed those stars on a couple of peoples coops and i absoulutly loved them! especialy the bronze/copper ones!

I have a big (36") black metal one on my coop. Paid $29 Willowtreeshop.net Actual shiping no handling fees!!!!!!!!!

We had one of the round painted wood ones inside our dome growing up. Uncle sent it to us from back East. It had 2 water drops on each side of the star. Supposedly meaning "twice the rain", as California was (and is) in a drought (even as it rains as I type).

I want to MAKE my own for my coop. Any ideas about what to put on it? I was thinking something that kept FIRE away (yes, we're in a hazard area) and made them produce more eggs. ??
