They are Beautiful!!! It took me a while to figure out what sex my Runner Ducks were. I ended up being able to tell by the quacks. The raspy sounding ones are males and usually by now you can tell by their voices what they are. Girls can be quite loud. I have one that is really bossy and loud but my other two are more quieter yet all three are Hens. I have mine in covered pens so that predators cannot get to them. I had lost two to a raccoon that managed to get to them before I replace the pen they were in. Hopefully yours have a predator safe place to be especially at night. Good luck with them.

Yes they go inside a plastic coop at night with my chickens. They coexist well. Are males usually more affectionate with humans? They’re still very timid but I can hold 2 of them and usually the others sit and watch. The black one quacks loud and proud and is small, often leads the line up and the other one has a raspy quack, it’ll sit on my lap and lay in the sun, but bigger than the rest and sits in the middle to back usually. I got them all day 2 and had them in clear brooders in our main living area to try and help imprinting but idk how well it worked.

My Males were friendlier and larger than my females. I too have gotten most of mine as ducklings and worked with them hoping they would be friendlier. They will eat out of my hand but not all of them. One of them that does I got as a 4 year old so sometimes I think it depends on the breed too.
