One of our black austrolorps left this deposit this am. Looks different than what we have seen so far. I’ve tried to look it up but can’t find something similar. Any thoughts?

6.5 weeks old
Medicated chick feed
Grit
Has had some scraps of spinach ends and a dried meal worm or two.
Still indoors in a brooder with pine shavings.
ACV in water.

If the chicks/chickens eat anything green, poop will have green in it. Because spinach has a lot of water, poop will be loose. Spinach is very nutrient filled and good for chicks/chickens, except not in high quantities because it contains oxalic acid.

Young chicks don’t need a lot of extras other than chicken feed and fresh plain water daily. Poops can change every time. If the chicks are active and eating well, there probably is no problem.

Thank you so much! She is acting fine!
At what age do they start to forage and eat things besides feed?

Whenever it is safe t for them to go outside on grass. Chicken feed and whatever they find in the yard should be the biggest part of their diet. They can have the occasional treat when they are around 6/ weeks old. You have chick grit for them so that is good for helping the gizzard to grind up bugs, grass,, and worms.
