I have a ton of tiny ants that are all over my garden and yard. I noticed today that they have just found their way into the run - and probably the coop next. Will they bother the chickens? Can I spread some food grade diatomaceous earth to get rid of them? There are A LOT of them and when I go in they are already crawling on my feet. Thanks for any advice!

Fire ants are pretty common where I live and are a problem. They will kill chicks and invade nest where a hen is brooding. I have had broody hens killed on the nest when the ants invaded at night. Some ant killers are safe around poultry and pets. Try to identify what kind of ants you have and go from there. Diatomaceous earth did nothing when we tried it with the ants nor did Sevin 5.
