I have a small group of "mixed bantam" chicks that I bought to go with my one successful hatch out of my first batch of hatching eggs, since this chick was alone. I've now had these chicks for just over 24 hours. One... it's tried crowing a few times. It's hard to explain what it sounds like when it does it, but it's body movements look like an adult rooster crowing away with full intention. The sound though? Sounds like an automatic rifle but the sounds of bullets are instead chirps, like a "b-b-b-b-b-b-B-B-B-B BRRIIP!".
So my question is, will hens crow as adults, or is this an indicator of it probably being a roo?
