I have a three week old leghorn with a broken foot or toe but not sure if I should splint it , she does have a tiny sore on top that's black n blue .

We had one with a broken toe, it wasn't serious so we left it. She is 2 years old now and walks fine, the toe is just a little crooked. I guess if she walks and she isn't in much pain you can leave it.

She puts just enough pressure on it to walk, then just lays down or hold it up. i have been running cold water on it every 15 -25 mins to help with the swelling .

You can make a brace out of medical tape if you are worried about crooked toes. Hold out her toes on a normal angle the put a piece medical tape onto the bottom of her foot, then, cut another piece of tape and stick it to the top of her foot and then press between here toes to stick the bottom and top pieces of tape together, this will hold her toes in the normal position until she has healed. The injury should heal rather quickly and easily with some vitamins in their water and boiled egg for protein. Watch for more swelling or change in colour. These things heal easily with a bit of time and care so she'll be fine.
