Throwing out eggs.

I was tossing out eggs that didn't hatch and I was cracking them open to see if they were fertile, and the one when I cracked it open I saw blood and there was a chick in there. When I was incubating them I needed to turn it up a little and I felt like when I turned it that it didn't turn so kept turning it. I looked it was 120 I turned it down again I looked it was 80 i fixed it and it was at 99.5 and the spike and cooling was in the same day.So my question is did I kill it by cracking open the shell or was it already dead. The chick was towards the final stages.

IMO once it got over 104 for any length of time it probably died.
