Meet Thumbelina!
She's a 3 month old Quail Antwerp d'Anver...hasn't seemed to grow as she should, has a gimp leg, and the top of her beak seems to curve to soon, putting a small gap between the top and bottom of her beak.
Still, she is by far the friendliest little one on the whole place! If she'd been born a cat or dog, she'd be the runt of the litter.
I had tried rehoming her, because I knew she wouldn't be what I wanted for my breedings given her problems. I think she knew what I had planned, and so she started going out of her way to win me over.
And she has! This little gimp legged pullet has completely stolen my heart!
She's so small that I worry about her sleeping outside with the other chicks, so I still bring her in at night. She is right now sleeping on my desk
She rides on my shoulder, follows me around the yard, will eat from my hand, and knows right where I keep the chicken treats! She loves to be where ever I am.
I honestly can say she's the first real "pet" chicken I've had, as the rest are all too flighty to sit and pet, but not Thumbelina! She likes the attention!
