Wednesday I was bit by a tick. Found it within a few hours. Pulled it off. Now the past few days the area is swollen and itchy.

What should I to make it stop itching? I have almost scratched it open.

You can try cortizone for the itching but I'm with cw, I would see a doctor. I had a tick on my leg last year, my DH helped get it off but it didn't swell or anything.

I think I'm sensitive to their bites since the one I got a few years ago. It had a bullseye. Doctor swore it wasn't one. I made him give me antibiotics anyway. For about a year that area would swell and itch about once a month for 15 minutes. Really hard to tell a doctor about something they can't see. I think I need a new doctor.

But I always get stuck with ones who don't believe something if them or another doctor didn't see it.

I was researching ticks a few nights ago (we found one on our cat) and I am pretty sure that I read some people do have more severe reactions to tick bites. Google tick removal and you might find some good info. If you read something alarming, call your doctor.

Good luck!

Get a new doctor! I went for my yearly physical and they can test for lime disease now. I had not been bit by a tick in over a decade and of course my test came out clean. But I am sure that a bullseye is not something you want to see!

the bullseyes is the first sign of lime disase, u need a new doc

You can be infected by Lyme's without a bullseye rash even showing up. I would highly recommend seeing a doctor and getting a titer test to see if you are infected.

I know a 17 year old girl in a wheelchair right now because her Lyme's went untreated. Don't wait, it's not worth it.

Feller had a tick bite a couple of years ago. Straight to the Dr. Fortunately, the Dr. he saw was proactive and decided to just go ahead and give him antibiotics - we live in an area where the jury is still out regarding our ticks carrying lyme, so it is a bit hit and miss when it comes to Drs treating tick bites as though they carry lyme.

The Dr. told him that Lyme is totally treatable, but any damaged caused before treatment is irreversable.

I am no fan of better health through chemistry, but a prophilactic dose of antibiotics is better than undiagnosed and untreated lyme disease.

We have these in all of our first aid kits and they work fabulously.

I believe I had a similar reaction just a week ago.

That sucker itched and itched and itched! The more I scratched...the worse it got.

The trick? Don't scratch. EVEN IN YOUR SLEEP. I was a sleep-scratcher...that's what made my red. If I scratched it at ALL it started flaring up. SO...try the not scratching method.
