She had a large mass in her abdomen that I have tried to drain with no luck. She was eating and drinking and getting around intill last Thursday when one of my other chicken refused to let her in the coop she thought she was going to sleep under the house Tilley wedged she in the back i finally got her and put her in the house and that’s where she spent her last few days she passed on Monday I needed to see what that mass was she was my very first chicken and what I saw upset me I couldn’t sleep that night. I did call around to find a vet to put her to sleep some of the responses I got where kinda rude or they wanted a lot of money I just needed for her to be put to sleep I got very discouraged and stop trying ok here are her pics they are horrible to look at and I fell like a failure to her

I'm so sorry to hear about Tilley:hugs

I want you to know you did NOT let her down. Reproductive disorders and internal laying are common and oh, so frustrating...there was nothing that you could have done to prevent this.

Thank You for sharing the photos and information with us. This will useful to others in the future when they are looking for help or want to learn more about what reproductive problems look like.
You did a good job in investigating, I know it can be disheartening when you find something like this in a favorite hen. I agree with @staceyj it looks like she had Salpingitis.

I'm sorry you couldn't find a vet or someone to help put her down, it can be a hard thing to do emotionally. If you would like to learn about some different methods that you can use in the future, let us know.

I recently lost a dear hen to Salpingitis. We cleared the infection with antibiotics and she hung on so long we thought she might make it until she stopped trying to produce eggs. It was not to be. Do not feel like a failure. If you made her comfortable there was little else you could do.
