Wait a minute is XenForo another sister site of BYC? Is that the HQ of it all? I’m confused...but it looks a lot like the format of SS or BYH

Xenforo is the *software* used for BYC and the sister sites, that's why they look the same.

Huddler was the old software, now it is XenForo. It is POSSIBLE to make a site from scratch, but a royal pain and you would have to constantly fix bugs and keep working on keeping a step ahead of the hackers. The software companies do the hard work, then you just make it look the way you want and do some minor coding (minor compared to building from scratch) and let the company you pay deal with keeping the security tight.
