our chicks are 7 weeks old now and growing by leaps and bounds. I still have them in the house since it has been so very hot and my husband doesnt have their coop ready yet. :)

We have 5 chicks 2 of which are roos. So can someone give me a suggestion on what to switch them to. I looked but my gosh there are so many types. These are not meat birds.. they are pets.

I do take them outside when it is not "melt your skin off your bones" hot outside. I also give them all sorts of treats like, tomatoes from the garden, cucumbers, apples, peaches, pears, green beans, pasta and when we had corn I gave them the cobs when we were done with them and any corn worms I found. They have also had 2 huge tomato worms. Ohh and I have given them lettuce. The only thing they dont like is potatoes.

Thank you in advance.

You can switch them to any kind of grower, general flock feed of about 16% protein or so. I usually use Flock Raiser (Purina), but I bought an off brand this most recent trip and can't recall the name - look for a general flock feed - NOT layer feed due to the calcium.

Thank you so much. I was sort of confused with the variety. I didnt think they needed a layer feed since the hens are still so young, but still didnt know for sure.
