I'm building my first coop and run and after looking at hundreds of pic's of runs on here I want to us tin along the bottom of the run that would be buried about a foot and haven't seen it much at all. Was just wondering if there is a reason for not using it in that manner. I have a good bit of tin and was trying to save some money on wire. Thanks Joe

I wouldn't see a reason why you couldn't use tin siding to predator proof your run, at least from a construction standpoint. I would think the reason its not used more is just because it can be expensive, and its probably easier and cheaper to bury wire fencing.

one thing I would think to mention is to be careful about your exposed edges. could cut you up or cut up chickens. You might want to figure out something to cover them.

Thanks, yeah I could put some flashing on there. Do you think that the tin would heat up too much or not?

given that you're in Texas, I would think so.

I have heard of some people here upcycling an old leaky hose by cutting it open, and using the hose to cover the tin edges.
