I have 3 female mallards that started laying eggs last Thursday, been getting 1 egg daily except for 2 days when they/she didn't lay any eggs, I think they are taking turns laying since I've only gotten 1 a day but today I went to let them out & found this really tiny egg. Is this the 1st egg from one of my females that just started laying????

Thanks, I didn't think it was anything I should be really concerned with just wanted some opinions about it plus I thought it was cute being that small!!!! I was planning on buying oyster shells for them this weekend, will it help the eggs to be bigger???? Someone said it just is for the shell to be tough/thick not brittle but so far I haven't had a problem with that, should I still give them the oyster shells????

Crack it open and take a picture, I'm curious to see what's in it. :pop Might have a small yolk, might not. Usually when I see small eggs like that they are yolkless.

FWIW, that is a good example of an egg that should not be incubated.

They call them fairy eggs or fart eggs or oops eggs. Usually they don't have a yolk either. Pretty normal for beginners and even sometimes a seasoned layer will pop one out.
Fairy egg! What a sweet name! I thought Loki was done saying laying, after 12 incubated, some brownies, cookies, and a pound cake later, then this showed up this morning! I'm going to try to use canned air to blow it out and make something pretty.
