The amish processor we are using for our 67 white boilers has us scheduled for drop-off on the 15th, processing on the 16th. The birds will be 2 days short of 10 weeks at that point. Originally I wasn't worried as they all seem to be moving well still (when they do move

) and I haven't lost any birds since May until today. Apparently this morning when my husband went out to feed them, one in the hen pen was dead.

Temps this week are in the low 80s, and we don't get much shade. Short of calling back and asking for an earlier date, what, if anything, can I do to help get my fat little birds through to next Tuesday? We do 12/12 feeding, have never run out of water. They have been on 20% grower since week 4.

I should clarify: they aren't in direct sun, but the tractors ARE. I'm trying to see if we have a suitable spot to put them in the edge of the woods, but then I worry about predators. Fans may be an option.....

Our tractors look like this, with the entire roof and back covered with a tarp. I've folded the edges of the tarp in on the back to allow greater airflow.

May be put the tarp over the peak of the hut and stake out the sides so its like a tent awning. That way you will get air from all sides and shade too. Add a fan and that should do it.
