Ouff. Just need to vent about yet another coop advertised as the bees knees with a camera, automatic door and dropping mats to change out for cleaning, etc, etc. and the coop is advertised for 6 hens, with a floor space of less than 8 sqft! The run is less than 20 sqft. That’s barely enough for two! Plus no ventilation to speak of, relying on gaps in floor, walls and ceiling for air exchange. That’s not ventilation, that’s a drafty coop. Argh.

Ya, as long as there's a market for them, they will keep selling them.
All we can do is try and educate those that ask questions before purchasing, and try to help those that have.

It’s just so aggravating… We went back and forth a couple of times, because I was asking them for measurements and ventilation openings (neither of which were mentioned in their elaborate advertising). My favorite part of their response (after arguing that the USDA had a better understanding of chicken’s needs than humane societies) “
It's just really tough for us to sit here and say that for somebody to get 4 chickens in their backyard, they need 16 sqft of coop space in addition to 40 sqft of run space. We're trying to make solutions for those folks who don't have all that space, but still can humanely and lovingly raise backyard chickens.
Right. And what are you telling those hapless new chicken owners when their flock is pulling each other’s feathers out and getting sick because they followed your advice and stuck 6 hens into a smaller than 2’x4’ coop, with a not quite 4x5’ run? It’s great they will be able to watch their hens misery on their camera…

Lovingly and humanely.. those are the two words that they obviously don't care about. It's about $$$$.
